More than 3000 eucalypts are being planted in a bush regeneration project currently underway at East Bowral.
The revegetation of 2ha of former farmland in Mansfield Reserve involves a combined effort between Wingecarribee Shire Council, volunteers from the local bushcare group and two Green Corps teams.
The planting of brown barrel, mountain grey gum and manna gum seedlings - all propagated from seeds gathered from trees in the reserve - is being funded by council's environment levy.
And much of the work is being undertaken by about two dozen Green Corps participants from both the Southern Highlands and the Shoalhaven.
"It's extending the remnant vegetation which is an endangered ecological community," said council bushcare facilitator Michelle Bond.
"In addition to a rabbit control program in operation it is part of the overall management of Mansfield Reserve."
