SOUTHERN Highland News is giving you the chance to win a double pass to the much anticipated upcoming event, Optus Flix in the Stix.
Optus Flix in the Stix is the home of open air cinema in regional NSW and on Friday February 24 it will be at Bong Bong Racecourse in Bowral.
The event will feature one of Australia's most celebrated singer/songwriters, James Reyne, who will perform an acoustic session.
An exceptional line up of short films will be on show at the social night out, with many of the films having won high calibre awards from top international festivals including Monaco International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival and Montreal World Film Festival.
The movies include short films from overseas as well as by Australian filmmakers such as brothers Nash and Joel Edgerton and feature great Australian actors including Paul Ashton, Gia Carides, Anthony LaPaglia, Jack Thompson, Gary Sweet, Sigrid Thornton, the Edgerton brothers and Ben Lawson.
Australian storytelling with larrikin bush poet, Murray Hartin, will round out the evening's unique mix of entertainment.
Founded by Simon Rollin of Mojo Events and Promotions, Optus Flix in the Stix gives regional areas the opportunity to enjoy great entertainment usually restricted to metropolitan cities.
Mr Rollin, from Orange, grew up on his family's cherry orchard based on the slopes of Mount Canobolas and is passionate about creating more opportunities in regional areas.
"Audiences are in for a unique and entertaining night out with live music by James Reyne, Australian story telling by Murray Hartin and 10 award winning films," Mr Rollin said.
"This is our fourth year (with this event) and we continue to get rave reviews with people loving the films; people are always pleasantly surprised by the bush poetry because most people don't know much about it and they are blown away."
He said that it was a magnificent opportunity for people to bring their family and come together for a night out.
"It's a great way to catch up with family and friends and return to the days of old, bring a picnic and enjoy it," Mr Rollin said.
"It's our first time in Bowral and we are hoping to make it an annual event."
