Two long-serving members of the Robertson Showground Trust have been recognised by the Minister for Lands, Tony Kelly.
Robertson Showground Trust chairman Ken Sharpe and John Whatman, both members of the Trust for 18 years, received certificates of appreciation from Member for Kiama Matt Brown at the Robertson Showgrounds this week.
Mr Brown, presenting the certificates on behalf of Mr Kelly, thanked Mr Sharpe and Mr Whatman for their years of dedication, enthusiasm and hard work.
"The purpose of the certificates is to say thanks for the terrific contribution these individuals have made to the cultural, recreational and economic welfare of their own communities," he said.
Mr Sharpe, a retired dairy farmer, joined the Robertson Show Society 41 years ago. Mr Whatman, also a dairy farmer, has been a member for 38 years.
"It gets in the family bloodlines and it continues on," said Mr Whatman. "We don't mind doing it. It's a community effort."
Mr Sharpe said the co-operation between the Robertson Show Society and showground users such as the football clubs bound the community together.
"It's something you've got to appreciate," he said. "This area is one of those communities that gets right in behind you."
