Goward calls on community to lobby for hospital, transport improvement

29 Oct, 2008 08:53 AM
MEMBER for Goulburn Pru Goward has called on the community to join her in lobbying for better local bus and hospital services by signing a petition circulating through the electorate.

“Over and over I hear similar stories whether it is lengthy hospital waiting lists, inability to access beds through the emergency department, being turfed out of hospital beds in the middle of the night or the lack of public transport options for our outlying residents,” Ms Goward said.

“A recent visit to Colo Vale reinforced the idea that there is the need for extended bus services which allow youth, aged and non-drivers basic access to sporting, retail, services and social events.

“Residents have no transport options other than the car at weekends.”

Ms Goward said she had been dealing with health and transport issues on a case-by-case basis, but it was time for residents to stand up and be counted.
