Goulburn takes command of police

01 Dec, 2007 02:49 PM
The Southern Highlands is set to come under the administration of Goulburn Local Area Command (LAC) this weekend.

Goulburn chief superintendent Peter Gillam said Camden LAC will officially hand over the Southern Highlands to Goulburn this Sunday.

Supt Gillam said he and his staff were looking forward to the new challenge for the command.

“There has already been an exchange of information between our end and Camden, and that will continue for a while yet before the Southern Highlands region comes under the Goulburn command,” Supt Gillam said.

“We are eagerly anticipating Bowral and the Southern Highlands coming into our command. It’s a great opportunity to work with a larger command and interact with the local community.”

Camden LAC crime manager detective inspector Paul Albury said that his staff were working closely with Goulburn to ensure a seamless transition of command.

“We want to ensure that services are not compromised in any way,” detective inspector Albury said.

“We’ve had a series of meetings with staff in each sector of the command in Goulburn.

“We’ve handed our documents, phone contacts and other information to our counterparts.”

Detective Inspector Albury said residents of the Southern Highlands should not be affected in any way by the change, and the association between Camden and Goulburn would continue for as long as it was required.
