The Editor
Dear Sir,
This morning I received a letter from the director corporate services, Wingecarribee Shire Council.
The letter advises my wife and myself that, due to lack of support for the three proposed focus groups planned to discuss the infrastructure maintenance and renewal program for the Shire, that there will now only be one meeting.
Virtually all of the people that I meet - both residents and visitors alike - complain about the condition of streets, roads and maintenance of public facilities in this Shire.
All have been given the opportunity - well publicised - to attend a thoroughly democratic process of meeting with Council representatives to give their views and to discuss any problems they might have with the above matters.
Yet, there are insufficient people to support the three meetings originally planned.
Someone once said that you get the kind of Government you deserve.
In future I shall close my ears to all of the whinging I constantly hear about our Council and it's effectiveness - or otherwise.
Yours truly
Peter Chadwick
