Garden cover-up

29 Jun, 2007 09:35 AM
Southern Highlands Botanic Garden supporters have called on Wingecarribee Shire Council to make public a consultant's report that rules out a botanic garden on the Bong Bong Common for heritage reasons.

At meeting with council this week, Southern Highlands Botanic Garden Inc members were told the heritage consultant will recommend that the council site not be used for a botanic garden.

Bong Bong Common was the site of the original European settlement of the area and may contain archaeological evidence of the first village in the Highlands and the former Bowman's Inn. There is also evidence of grave sites and a causeway.
