A gift of Southern Highlands caps and shirts to visiting Chinese delegates has sparked a debate over a possible name change for Wingecarribee Shire.
Cr Duncan Gair called for debate on the issue after visitors from Kaifeng City were presented with Southern Highlands caps and shirts last week.
"At the welcome of the Chinese visitors, delegates were issued with Southern Highlands caps and t-shirts and the word Wingecarribee was not mentioned," Cr Gair said.
"Is it council's position that Wingecarribee Shire not be recognised on advertising material?"
Cr Gair also asked whether it was appropriate for council staff to comment publicly on the use of Wingecarribee Shire Council or Southern Highlands as names for the region.
