Free Internet access for doctors and pharmacists

31 Mar, 2005 03:49 PM
Southern Highlands doctors and pharmacists have the chance to gain free access to the Internet under the Federal Government's Broadband for Health Initiative.

Under the scheme, general practices and pharmacies throughout Australia will be provided with free broadband Internet connection, as well as 12 months free service if they're connected before the end of June this year.

The Broadband for Health Initiative aims to provide all doctors and pharmacists with ready access to broadband services to access health information and improve connectivity between health professionals.

The scheme provides doctors and pharmacists with business-grade broadband, which operates at higher speeds and provides greater security than normal broadband.

Helping Southern Highlands general practices and pharmacists to log on for the scheme is Bowral-based Internet provider ACE Internet Services, which has been recognised as a Qualified Service Provider for the initiative.

"We wanted to be involved in the Broadband for Health program because ACE Internet Services values the community," said Ace Internet Services Bowral CEO Allen Cupitt.
