First sod turned for Big W

First sod turned for Big W

29 Nov, 2005 04:09 PM
Mayor Gordon Lewis officially turned the first sod to mark the start of work at Woolworths Mittagong Marketplace yesterday.

Representatives of project managers APP, construction managers Adco and Woolworths attended the brief ceremony at the Old Hume Highway site.

Costing $30 million in design and construction, the Mittagong Marketplace is scheduled to open by Easter 2007.

Work has begun despite an on-going dispute between Woolworths and Wingecarribee Shire Council over Woolworths' contribution to off-site works, now the subject of an appeal to the Land and Environment Court.
