Preparations have been finalised for Wingecarribee Shire's first Bushfire Expo and it looks like the displays will be red hot.
From a fully equipped firefighting helicopter manned by a rapid response, remote area firefighting team to advice on how to respond to a bushfire, there will be something for everyone.
The free expo will be held in the grounds of Chevalier College from 10am to 3pmthis Saturday, organisers said.
A fleet of fire engines will be there and there will be plenty of demonstrations of equipment as well as characters like Barry Banksia, Firefighter Craig and the villainous Wicked Weed.
Wingecarribee Rural Fire Service (RFS) fire control officer Ashley Frank said public education was always a priority at the start of the Bushfire season.
"It is vital because we live in essentially a rural community without towns and villages surrounded by national parks and farmland," he said.
"While it is impossible to predict exactly what sort of fire season we will see this year, one thing is certain: fire education, preparation and awareness will be just as important in 2003 as in any year previously."
The RFS will have three fire trucks and a bulk water carrier (pictured) on display.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service will be responsible for the helicopter, and demonstrate a buoy wall.
NSW Fire Brigades said their aim on the day would be to help residents become more self-sufficient when facing a fire until the fire brigade arrived.
State Forests will bring their fire tankers and demonstrate a new state-of-the-art lightning strike detection system.
Council will have a newly released plan for reducing bushfire risk in its reserves on display.
The Woodland Revegetation and Bushland Management consultants have promised to bring a more positive perspective on bushfires, dispelling the myth fires destroy bush.
