Sir,
I am writing to thank the firefighters and the police for their help during the fires on November 9.
The firefighters arrived just in time, and only for them and Elvis we may not have been here today.
My daughter Vickie Lake was stranded in town. She couldn't get through as all the roads were cut off by the fires, so I had her house as well as mine to hose down.
When the firefighters arrived the police were with them and they told the whole street we were being evacuated but by the time we had all lined up in our cars, the shed next to my daughter's place burst into flame.
Elvis came to the rescue. What a wonderful job it did putting out the fire.
Then I asked the police officer if he was going to escort us all out.
His reply was no one was going anywhere as all the roads around us were on fire.
The firefighters did a very good job and thank you to them we didn't lose any homes in our street.
Most of us stayed on in our homes that night and my daughter did manage to get home, so thank you again to the firefighters and the police.
