A father of seven who set the family's Moss Vale housing commission home alight was jailed for two and a half years last week.
The Sydney court was told the man sat outside drinking beer watching the house burn.
The man, 36, who cannot be named, admitted maliciously damaging the Land and Housing Corporation house in Moss Vale last September.
In setting a maximum term of two and a half years, District Court Judge Colin Charteris said the $155,000 residence had now been lost to public housing.
Asked why he started the fire, the man said: "I just flipped out . . . everything just got to me."
