Fact-finding mission for Chinese agriculturalists

24 Sep, 2003 09:12 AM
Sixteen representatives from China's agriculture department have visited a Glenquarry dairy farm as part of a fact-finding mission to regional NSW.

Greg and Trish Maloney said they were delighted to host the delegates and explain the way they had integrated new technology into their farming.

Mr Maloney said the Chinese visitors seemed particularly interested in waste disposal, breeding programs, nutrition and the prevention of disease.

"We have a very high-tech milking system here too, so they asked a lot about that and we showed them how it works," he said.

The visitors also experience an Aussie afternoon tea of lamingtons, Anzac biscuits and sponge cake.

Through a translator, Mr Maloney took questions from the delegates on different issues related to cattle management and conducted a tour of the facilities for the visitors.

The delegates each came from a different Chinese province, including Beijing, Si Chuan, Jiang Su, Liao Ling.

The Maloneys' property has been nominated for three Southern Highlands Business Awards for excellence in produce.
