Easter means many different things to many different people.
To the Christians it means to commemorate the last days of Christ's life and to learn the lessons that have derived from it.
Lessons such as the love of Christ, the treachery of Judas, the violence of the centurions and the forgiveness of God, all of which can be identified in today's world.
The Easter message presented to those who follow Christ, is one of finding meaning in suffering and knowing that Easter is a service of immense hope.
"Christ died loving, he didn't give in to the hatred that many men did while on the cross," said Father Mark de Batista of Moss Vale's St Paul's Parish.
"Christ rose to life again because he conquered all evil, and that is something that each one of us has the ability to do."
For many people Easter may bring with it the promise of chocolate, but for Christians it is the promise of God's love.
"The promise is immense if we follow Christ," said Fr Mark.
