Drug courier escapes jail sentence

A 44-year-old man who supplied more than 15kg of cannabis to Southern Highlands locations has been given an 18-month suspended jail sentence in Moss Vale Court.

Graham Evans Kingsley, of McCannas Road, Tilbuster pleaded guilty to four counts of supplying a prohibited drug during a period spanning from January 11 to June 6.

He was arrested at Sutton Forest on June 6 after police found 5.77kg of cannabis and three sachets of speed in his truck.

Police became of aware of Kingsley's activities during investigations for Strike Force Maule, set up to investigate a drug ring which saw truck drivers conveying large supplies of cannabis between NSW and South Australia.

Kingsley was identified as one of the truck drivers being used to ship the drugs during the operation.

On January 10 police were informed Kingsley was to meet with an unknown person in the Southern Highlands to supply a large amount of cannabis.

Police observed Kingsley meeting with an unidentified person at the Mobil Service Station in Pheasants Nest during a police surveillance operation on January 11, and saw Kingsley pass a large black bag to the person before leaving.
