Driver blows five times over the limit

27 Feb, 2009 01:50 PM
A BOWRAL woman, 50, was caught driving at more than five times the legal drink-driving limit outside Woolworths in Bowral on Saturday night, police claim.

Police were alerted to the woman’s erratic driving by members of the public and breath tested on Banyette Street, Bowral, at 5.15pm.

After returning a positive breath test she was arrested and taken to Bowral police station where police said she recorded a blood-alcohol level of.26. She was charged with high range drink driving.

Police claim that not only was the woman highly intoxicated, but she was also driving an unregistered, uninsured car and was driving with a disqualified licence.

The woman’s licence was already disqualified for six months from a previous mid-range drink-driving offence. Police said she showed little regard for the situation and the danger she posed to the public.
