Bradman Oval will reach a new milestone today when the Australian and English ladies take to the field for the one-off Ashes encounter.

Marking the 100th year since the birth of Sir Donald Bradman, the oval will host its maiden first-class game with the four-day Test that will conclude on Monday.

The two squads arrived in Bowral on Wednesday evening where they attended a welcoming ceremony held by the Bradman Foundation at the museum.

Foundation director Rina Hore made a formal welcome to both sides on a chilly evening in Bowral.

“It’ll be sunny and warm in the morning, and by the time the evening session comes about, it can be so cold you’ll be telling your 12th man to bring out the long-sleeved jumper,” she told the players.

Ms Hore said jokes aside, the work and preparation Foundation members and volunteers had put in was a sign of the enormity of the occasion.
