ZENTA Zebergs is a dancer. From the age of 15 she was studying all forms of movement, from tribal steps, to belly dancing, flamenco and traditional forms.
Dance is her passion. And it's from her own experience of the affects movement has on her body and spirit that she's hoping to share with women of all ages in her classes, Bodhidance.
The classes start up on February 8, with the motto, "awake the body, energy and uplift the spirit" and do it all without the anxiety or fear that can come with perfecting technique.
"This is dance as an expression other than the focus being on a particular technique in order to perform," Mrs Zebergs said.
"The focus is on dance to cultivate energy and health and balance - mind, body and spirit.
"Each dance is a moving meditation where participants learn to focus and deeply embody the power of intention, awareness and inner presence."
Bodhidance is a concept she founded a couple of years ago but classes shut down when the premises she operated out of had to close.
"People have been approaching me over the past couple of years telling me how much they missed them," she said.
"I missed them myself.
"One woman came with a frozen shoulder and we gently worked on that and she left without a frozen shoulder.
"People can participate up to their capability and fitness."
The sessions are all choreographed by Mrs Zebergs who incorporates a range of different music styles and movements, such as tribal, circular motions, belly dancing and more.
Each lesson has a theme and celebrates, "the joy of movement".
"A lot of people are what I call closet dancers," she said.
"They dance when nobody is there or go out and dance in the social scene.
But Mrs Zebergs quotes others when she says, "If you have feet you can dance".
"One of things people always said was they left uplifted relaxed and joyful," she said.
"I've had women who came with great apprehension who didn't know their left foot from their right... but [Bodhidance is] for greater balance and co-ordination."
Those interested in Bodhidance should wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and bring a bottle of water.
The classes will be held in Namaste Yoga Studio in Moss Vale on 348 Argyle Street (upstairs).
