Cranky mayor may enter race

Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Paul Stephenson is considering standing for Goulburn as an independent at the next State election, throwing a potential spanner in the Liberal Party's quest to seize the seat with a high profile candidate.

Having ruled out the possibility of standing last week, Cr Stephenson said on Friday he had become increasingly angered at the way the Liberal Party was treating constituents in the newly created Goulburn Seat.

In addition, local calls for him to stand had grown by the day.

"I'm re-assessing my options. I'm fairly cranky and I might have second thoughts on running," Cr Stephenson said.
