Country to call Highlands home

A new country music festival is set to rock the Southern Highlands next year, after Mittagong RSL announced plans for the expansion of its country music program.

It is hoped that the Southern Highlands Country Music Festival, which will be held over the June long weekend, will attract many locals, along with people from Wollongong and Sydney.

Mittagong RSL general manager Craig Masden said the club was committed to country music.

"Country music is hugely popular in the Southern Highlands and we want to showcase it more - people relate to the music," he said.
