Council votes to rezone only one block of land

24 Dec, 2008 02:27 PM
WINGECARRIBEE Council has voted to move forward with only one of 14 blocks of community land proposed for rezoning through the draft shire-wide Local Environment Plan (LEP).

At Wednesday’s meeting, Council decided to proceed with the reclassification of land at Government Road, Braemar, changing it from operational to industrial.

Cr Paul Tuddenham said the 4225 square metre property, on the corner of the Hume Highway and Government Road, should have been rezoned when the sewerage treatment plant was built.

Cr Jim Clark moved that any proceeds from the future sale of the property should be earmarked for a proposed family and community centre at Mittagong.

But Cr Tuddenham said he was not proposing that the property be sold, only that its rezoning be put on exhibition as part of the draft LEP.
