LIBERAL councillor Juliet Arkwright will nominate for the mayor’s job at an extraordinary meeting of council today.
Cr Arkwright, who topped the poll in the September 13 election, said she had been encouraged by the support she and fellow Liberal councillor David Stranger had received in the election and following her election to council.
“I feel there was an expectation of a change of direction - not a radical change, but there was definitely a mood for it,” she said.
“I have received encouragement from other councillors and have thought long and hard about it.”
Cr Arkwright said although she would be a newcomer to Wingecarribee Council, she had experience in politics and local government and had followed the affairs of Wingecarribee Council for 15 years.
