Council to balance reservoir pressure

18 Sep, 2009 10:36 AM
COUNCIL water crews will begin drawing down water from the Bundanoon reservoir to complete pressure balancing with Exeter on From 9am on Monday, September 21.

The draining down will take around three days.

While this is in effect Bundanoon will be totally serviced by the reservoir at Exeter.

Residents may notice significant amounts of water running from the Bundanoon reservoir area during the draining process, but this is quite normal.

Refilling the reservoir will begin at 9am on Wednesday, September 23 and, after filling, there will be pressure valve adjustment work done to achieve the correct balance between the Bundanoon Reservoirs and Exeter.

During this adjustment process there may be periods of low water pressure for the higher elevated Bundanoon residents served by this system and, because of the agitation in the main, resident may also notice turbid discoloured water coming through household taps.

Council reticulation crews will monitor the situation and operate scour valves as practicable to remove as much of the turbid water as possible.

Council assures residents that turbid water does not constitute a health hazard, as the water is disinfected, but there may be aesthetic effects on clothing in the wash.

If you are experiencing turbid water we urge you to contact council on 4868 0832.

Wingecarribee Council apologises for any inconvenience during this adjustment period.
