Wingecarribee Shire Council will move to cut the time allowed for developers to act on development consents to a maximum of three years.
Councillors at Wednesday's meeting voted unanimously in favour of a proposal from Mayor Gordon Lewis to reduce the life of consents from five to two years, with a possibility of a 12-month extension if a developer can show good cause.
Council will also lobby the Minister for Planning for a definition of what constitutes "commencement" of a development.
Cr Lewis said that he had been concerned for some time about long delays by some developers in acting on consent.
