Council brings state to book over libraries

14 Nov, 2007 12:03 PM
Wingecarribee Shire library users could find shelves bare of new books on Thursday, November 29, when Wingecarribee Shire joins a Day of Action to protest the State Government's falling share of public library funding.

Library staff are considering limiting computer access to 50 minutes, blocking internet access to NSW State Government websites and displaying only half of the monthly magazines to show library users how funding cuts could affect country libraries.

Mayor Gordon Lewis said public library funding in NSW had reached crisis point and Wingecarribee Shire Council would support the state-wide push to do something about it.
