Council backtracks on tree removal plans

25 Jan, 2007 05:40 PM
Wingecarribee Shire Council has not approved the removal of trees from Boolwey Street in Bowral, Deputy Mayor and Works and Planning Committee chairman Nick Campbell-Jones said yesterday.

Cr Campbell-Jones was responding to residents' concerns that up to 22 trees could be cut down between Bendooley Street and St Jude Street to improve drainage and and prevent flooding of properties.

A council information sheet circulated to Boolwey Street residents advised that council was considering two options, one involving the removal of 22 trees and the other the removal of 14.

Council has adopted the second option but requested a further report on tree removal.
