Coal survey finished

26 Sep, 2011 12:00 AM
RESIDENTS tired of hearing Hume Coal's aerial survey plane criss-crossing the sky can now relax as the program has come to an end.

The company employed Fugro Airborne Surveys to conduct low-level airborne geophysical surveys in its exploration permit zone covering an area between Belanglo State Forest and Exeter.

Project Manager Dane Stewart said the work has now been completed and the company will now compile and analyse the data collected.

"Survey results will help Hume Coal focus its future exploration drilling activities on key areas of the lease, potentially reducing the overall drilling footprint," he said.

The company's exploration lease is up for renewal in November.
