Climbing world's highest peak was an almost spiritual experience for Kangaroo Valley adventurer Bob Killip.
Five years after bad weather cut short his first attempt to reach the Mount Everest summit with the Army Alpine Association, Mr Killip achieved a lifelong ambition two weeks ago when he stood atop the world's highest peak.
But the feat may have come at a cost, with Mr Killip seeing medical specialists to see if he would lose a toe on his right foot to frost bite.
His expedition group was also criticised for leaving Englishman David Sharp to die in a cave about 330 metres below the summit.
