A proposed amendment to Wingecarribee Shire Council's draft local environment plan (LEP), which seeks to rezone certain land in Moss Vale to permit bulky goods retailing, is to be submitted to Planning Minister Craig Knowles for his approval.
The changes, including an expansion of the range of permissible uses within the proposed Business 3(c) Bulky Goods Zones and a reduction in the minimum footprint of buildings occupied by bulky goods retail outlets from 1500 square metres to 1000 square metres, have been made following public exhibition.
Council's definition of bulky goods is large items including indoor and outdoor furniture, large electrical, gas, solar or wood burning appliances, large scale communication and information technology devices, beds and mattresses, carpets and floor coverings, large scale recreation equipment, motor vehicle spare parts and curtains and blinds that cannot be carried by hand by an able-bodied person from the premises where they are sold.
Authorisation has also been given for council to investigate the potential for a site in close proximity to Bowral town centre for consideration as a bulky goods retailing precinct.
