Census collectors will start delivering forms today, with all households due to receive their forms by August 7 in time for national census night on Tuesday, August 8.

Michelle Smith from East Bowral applied for a position as a census collector after seeing the advertisement in the paper. After a day of training with other collectors in the area and armed with a collector's manual, she is ready to hit the streets.

She will take the trademark census yellow bag with her and deliver the forms to the 440 households in her area on foot. "I'll be getting a lot of exercise."
