A 70-year-old man has died in hospital after a car fire near Picton left him with 75 per cent burns to his body.
The Prestons man was airlifted in a critical condition to Royal North Shore Hospital immediately following the fire, then transferred to a burns unit at Concord Hospital in Sydney's west.
He died just before 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Police are to prepare a report for the NSW coroner.
Officers from Camden Local Area Command and NSW Rural Fire Service personnel attended the blaze on Picton Road at Wilton about 6pm on Monday, after receiving reports a red Mazda sedan was on fire.
