Sir,
The Bowral Cafe has ceased to exist, save for the memories of those who were taken there in the 1930s for childhood treats and who, in turn, took their children, grandchildren - even great-grandchildren - there for similar treats.
Even passersby are deprived of its charm.
Do cafes with historical significance have a place and meaning? Are they part of our heritage? Evidently not in Bowral, sad to say.
Is not the community entitled to be advised prior to radical changes? Many of us think they are.
The rapid gutting of the Bowral Cafe is disturbing indeed. Few landmarks remain in Bowral. Which will be the next to go?
Much of the heart of Bong Bong Street has been taken out by the unheralded destruction of the Bowral Cafe.
