Busy time for local thieves

16 Jun, 2004 09:12 AM
The long weekend proved to be a busy time for property thefts with Bowral Police reporting a number of break-ins in the last few days.

Joy Manufacturing in Moss Vale had the unfortunate luck of being broken into twice on Monday and Tuesday nights, with both incidents happening between 1.30am and 2.30am.

Police said investigations were continuing in regards to the contents taken from the premises.

The thieves gained entry to the premises both times by smashing the rear door glass panels.

Electrical equipment was the property theft of choice for thieves who broke into the Dick Smith early Tuesday morning.

The thieves gained entry by smashing through the front door at around 4.30am, stealing away with a selection of landline phones, mobile phones, Playstation equipment and DVD equipment.

An Exeter property owner may now be regretting the purchase of a 250 year old front door for his home after his door was kicked in during a break in on the weekend.

Police believe the incident may have occurred sometime between 8pm Saturday evening and 9pm Monday night at the Middle Road property, with the kicked door alone causing $3500 worth of damages.
