A sub-contractor of the construction giant hit the water pipe near the old railway line in Colo Vale at about 6am, which was not rectified until noon.
Resident Steve Coleman said this incident 'broke the camel's back', after a string of similar incidents in recent weeks.
"This is happening on a fairly regular basis," he said.
"It's becoming a pain in the neck not having water."
Mr Coleman claimed Transfield had been the cause of three water and gas interruptions in the past three weeks, and at least six times since Transfield started laying the sewerage pipe through the northern villages.
Consequently Mr Coleman was left unable to shower or shave before he went to work on Thursday, and had to take time from his working day to go home when the water problem was rectified.
Transfield's project manager John Ilott defended the construction works, blaming inaccurate mapping for the problem.
"A lot of plans don't match what is actually there," he said.
"We best investigate with the information that is available, with all due care and caution."
Mr Ilott also apologised for any inconvenience last Thursday.
"It's an unfortunate occurrence and Transfield regrets any interruption to services," Mr Illot said.
"We take all efforts to minimise disruption."
Mr Coleman recognised Transfield was just trying to do its job, but at the same time, said such regular interruptions were not acceptable.
"They're only trying to do their jobs but a lot of mistakes is not a good thing," Mr Coleman said.
