That’s all the ladies of Legacy Holiday House want for the property’s extensive gardens.
In the spirit of ANZAC Day, Bunnings Warehouse in Mittagong has answered the call.
On May 3 a team of six team members will come prepared with 100 plants and armed with the necessary tools to achieve that vision.
Bunnings Mittagong manager Sean D’Cruz said the team were really looking forward to completing the garden makeover.
“The Moss Vale Legacy does such a great job in the community so we felt it was important to help out,” Mr D’Cruz said.
For 20 years Alan Ford tendered to the gardens before retiring early last year.
Since then, Paul Davis has taken over and has lot of exciting ideas.
“The ladies love colour, as long as it’s colourful they will be happy,” Mr Davis said.
House manager Lyn Grice said everyone was excited about Bunnings involvement.
“We cannot thank them enough for this generous donation, it is just wonderful,” Ms Grice said.
Legacy Holiday House has a long history in Moss Vale.
In 1945, at the close of World War 11, the Women’s Auxilliary of Sydney Legacy decided there was a needed for a holiday venue for Legacy widows and their children.
The initial idea was promoted by then president, Doris Lazarus, and the house was opened in 1946.
In the early years the Women’s Auxilliary raised the majority of the cost of running the house and donated time to decorating and maintaining soft furnishings and furniture.
The house still accommodates 25 widows at any one time who still conduct craft stalls to raise money.
Ms Grice said with four major renovations over the 64 years of operation the land and gardens have seen many changes.
“We cherish our two large pin oak trees and the two Aleppo pine trees planted in 1965 from seeds from the Lone Pine Ridge, Gallipoli that are an important part of our history,” Ms Grice said.
Mr D’Cruz said Bunnings are always on the lookout for practical ways to help local community groups.
