Bundanoon milestone

31 Jan, 2006 03:12 PM
The Most Venerable Phra Somdet Yanavarodom headed a group of 50 Buddhist monks from Thailand, Canada, Singapore and the USA at an enshrinement and blessing ceremony at the Sunnataram Forest Monastery at Bundanoon last week.

The ceremony marked the latest stage of construction of the Gratitude Pagoda, built by the Sunnataram monks with the help of the local community.

Phra Somdet represented the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand at the ceremony to enshrine four statues of Buddha in the Gratitude Pagoda.

The four statues enshrined in the pagoda's Chamber of Wisdom represented the Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and European styles.

Around 300 people attended the ceremony and received a memorial gift from Phra Somdet to mark the occasion, as is the Thai custom.
