There were more than 50 groups involved in assisting Brigadoon this year, including fire brigades, SES, schools, charities, sporting groups, Scouts and Girl Guides.
Publicity Officer Alaistair Saunders said the committee acknowledged the effort and commitment from the large numbers of volunteers who gave countless hours of tireless labour (in excess of 2000 hours) to assist in making "Brigadoon" such an outstanding success.
"The committee ensures it recognises this commitment by disbursing the profits raised on the day to those charities and volunteer groups, on a proportional basis, to each organisation," Mr Saunders said.
"The total sum disbursed for 2012 is $47,596.50.
"This brings the total amount that Brigadoon has donated to the community chest in excess of $970,000 since 1982, which is as far back as we can trace our records.
"This figure does not include monies spent on the improvements to the Bundanoon oval, which in itself is a significant amount."
Mr Saunders said this was not the largest amount of money to have been disbursed to community groups by the Brigadoon committee.
"But we are extremely proud of our efforts in supporting these local groups," he said.
"More than 11,000 attended the gathering this year and, although not our biggest attendance, it was an extremely good turnout for a one-day event considering all the rain and unsettled weather we had in the week leading up to the gathering.
"It just goes to show the magical appeal Brigadoon has to all walks of life, which has people making their annual pilgrimage to our gathering."
The Bundanoon Highland Gathering expressed its gratitude to the local businesses and personalities who supported them.
"It is only through the generosity of people and organisations like them that we at Brigadoon can achieve our goals and maintain the already evident enthusiasm at such a wonderful cultural showpiece, and continue to promote the Southern Highlands as a 'must see' tourism location in NSW," Mr Saunders said.
"But more to the point, financially reward local groups for their outstanding efforts.
"Finally, congratulations to all the hard working members of the Brigadoon committee on their exceptional efforts and for once again producing an event recognised worldwide as the finest Scottish Highland Gathering in Australia."
