Bradman hit for $6.5 million

22 Oct, 2007 07:13 AM
In a major coup for Bowral, the Bradman Museum of Cricket will receive a $6.5 million Federal Government grant for a major expansion to mark Sir Donald Bradman’s Centenary year in 2008.

Bradman Foundation chairman John Fahey announced plans for two additional galleries, incorporating an International Cricket Hall of Fame and a high-tech interactive display on the modern game.

Mr Fahey said the grant would allow the museum complex to retain its relevance and appeal to its audience, as well as its commercial viability in a highly competitive tourism and leisure market.

The proposed International Cricket Hall of Fame will showcase the Greatest of the Greats from every cricket playing nation in the world, with the first inductees to be Bradman’s "international dream team" chosen by Sir Donald before his death.

Further inductees will be nominated annually, providing international visibility for the museum.

"The Modern Game will focus on today’s

game; the players, the technology and the rich and diversified cultures it embraces," Mr Fahey said.
