Mr Onisforou has lodged a development application for a ten-pin bowling alley as part of the second stage of his commercial/retail development, The Intersection, in Station Street.
But he said he would shelve his plans if a private leisure centre incorporating a bowling alley was approved.
Mr Onisforou said the principle of Globe Project Group had asked him to discontinue his plans for the bowling alley so that Globe could offer more non-aquatic activities at the proposed leisure centre.
