Mittagong is set to be become the busiest town in the Southern Highlands over the next two years, according to Mittagong Chamber of Commerce president Charlie Johns.

Mr Johns said with the opening of Woolworths' Mittagong Marketplace, a planned Bunnings superstore, the development of the Mobil service station site and plans for bulky goods centres in the area, Mittagong would attract thousands of extra visitors each year.

Possible tenants in the Mittagong Marketplace include KFC, Prouds, Bakers' Delight, Priceline Pharmacy, and Donut King, he said.

"With thousands of extra vehicle movements through the town centre, it is time to work with the Mittagong Master Plan Committee and council to enhance the Mittagong CBD," he said.
