Blitz to continue

30 Dec, 2004 11:24 AM
Local police will be out to make sure that Southern Highlands New Year's Eve festivities remain under control and fatality free.

Highway Patrol police will continue their dangerous driving blitz for Operation Safe Arrival, while general duties police from around the district will have a full compliment of staff on duty to handle any unruly behaviour.

Inspector Jim Cody from Bowral Police said police crews would be maintaining a high presence around the district throughout the evening to make sure local festivities were running smoothly.

He also encouraged locals to plan their New Year's Eve celebrations carefully to ensure a safe and happy night for everyone involved.

"We encourage people hosting parties to register with police," Inspector Cody said.
