Big Plans for Moss Vale

28 Sep, 2005 08:51 AM
Moss Vale Chamber of Commerce has given its unanimous support to a major development for the Cribbin Motors Holden site in Moss Vale.

Plans for a four-part development including a bulky goods outlet such as major furniture retailer, large office space, a 50-80 room motel and a 24-hour medical centre were outlined at the chamber meeting on Monday night.

Highlands Business Centre Pty Ltd associate director Sameh Ibrahim said all services proposed in the development were currently lacking in the area.

The two-storey development would include around 430 underground car parking spaces, bus and taxi drop-off areas, and loading and unloading on the premises, he said.

Mr Ibrahim said that possible tenants of the bulky goods outlet could include major retailers such as Freedom Furniture, IKEA, or Bing Lee.

Large office space of 300 to 400 square metres could attract the headquarters of major companies looking to relocate from the city, and the motel accommodation would cater for staff of these companies on short-term stays in the area, he said.

If the development were to proceed, Cribbin Motors Holden would relocate to the former Mitsubishi Motors site in Moss Vale.

Mr Ibrahim said the development would be in timber and metal and would not be an eyesore.
