Big cats roam Mt Gibraltar

Madeline Wilkinson isn't a woman prone to hallucination. That's why what she saw on Tuesday is even more compelling. Driving from Bowral towards Mittagong on Oxley Road at about 9am, Mrs Wilkinson was startled to see she was not alone.

Two animals came slinking down the embankment on to the road. One walked straight across the road, while the other paused and looked down the road towards Mrs Wilkinson. It continued crossing the road and both creatures disappeared into thick bushland.

"They were definitely panther like," she said.
