But that didn't stop dedicated crowds from packing into Bowral Memorial Hall yesterday from midday to see the NSW Police Band, the Fire and Rescue NSW Band, the Navy Band, the Highlands Pipes and Drums and the Lone Piper.

The NSW Police band in particular was a big hit, with Special Constable Belinda Adams belting out some powerful renditions of classic songs.

Bowral Chamber executive member, Geoff Hosey, said the festival was "absolutely brilliant".

"Unfortunately the weather wasn't great, but the festival was still absolutely brilliant," Mr Hosey said.

"We would have liked to see some more people turn up though."

Mr Hosey said the last song played on Saturday, the Radetzky March, was especially impressive.

"We have been to Vienna and the music on Saturday was simply a great rendition of the music of Vienna," Mr Hosey said.

Elaine Hosey said it was good to see a lot of young people attending the festival.

"It was really nice to see quite a few young people getting involved and watching the bands," she said.

Bowral Chamber of Commerce president Tony Springett said the disappointing weather on Saturday was the only real let down of the weekend.

"We didn't get as many people along as we'd hoped," he said.

"Normally the weather at this time of year is perfect, but people just drove past Corbett Gardens because they didn't see much action happening."

Mr Springett said one of the best performances yesterday was by the Fire and Rescue NSW band.

"The bands were all first class, and the highlight for me as the Fire and Rescue NSW band.

"They had about 40 members in the band, and a dozen marching girls. The band was fantastic."
