Southern Highlands doctors have issued a warning to those at risk of meningococcal disease to be vaccinated.
The warning comes after the death of a woman in Wollongong to meningococcal disease this week.
Bowral Medical Centre's Dr Chris Alexander said meningococcal was uncommon but severe.
Dr Alexander said the unpredictability of the disease was scary but that the most at-risk group should have been vaccinated at 12 months.
