Bag a bulb this Sunday

31 Oct, 2000 03:46 PM

Keen gardeners won’t want to miss a once a year opportunity this Saturday at the annual Bowral Tulip Time bulb disposal day.

Bring your trowel and dig your own is the message according to Tulip Time Manager, Steve Anderson.

“It’s easy. Bring your trowel, buy a bag at the gate for $10 and fill it with bulbs. There are thousands to choose from.”.

There are over 50 varieties in the Gardens and lots of colours to choose from. There’ll be photographs of each bed available to check out the colours contained before you dig. Mr Anderson said the mixed tulip beds were popular with visitors to Corbett Gardens this year and there are lots of bulbs in these beds for people to buy.

“People loved the mixed tulips. I think we had more comments about them than anything else. Because they formed such a major part of the display, it means there are over 30 thousand bulbs available in these beds, so if you’d like your own mixed tulip display for next year, Saturday’s the day to come and get them,” he said.

The day is bound to popular so Mr Anderson advises getting in early.

“People ask about the day during the Festival itself, and we’ve had lots of inquiries from gardeners outside the local area. My advice is get in early for the best selection and fill as many bags as you want,” he added.

The Tulip Time bulb disposal day

is on between 10am and 2pm

this Saturday November 4th in Corbett Gardens.
