Back to drawing board for tree removal plans

30 Jan, 2007 05:32 PM
Wingecarribee Shire Council will rethink a proposal to remove trees from Boolwey Street, Bowral, following a meeting with residents, according to works and planning committee chairman Nick Campbell-Jones.

Around 30 people attended the public meeting on Monday morning to discuss the proposal to remove trees in order to improve drainage and prevent flooding of low-lying properties on the northern side of the street.

Options include construction of a stormwater pipeline, stormwater pits and kerb and guttering along the southern side of the street, at a cost of around $350,000, or building a larger grassed open drain, with a box culvert at Edward Street, at a cost of $80,000.
