Birds and plants on the threatened species list will be endangered by commercial groundwater extraction at Bundanoon, according to the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Threatened species such as the Ground Parrot and Striated Fieldwren depend on rare hanging swamps fed by natural springs on the escarpment near the proposed development.
"Their future is imperiled if the hanging swamps, themselves an important natural asset, dry up," a NPWS spokesman said.
