Aquifer committee chairman resigns

The future of the State Government's official community reference group on the Kangaloon aquifer is uncertain after Upper Community Reference Group (UNCRG) chairman Alex Walker walked out of a meeting this week.

Former Minister for Environment Bob Debus appointed Mr Walker, a former managing director of Sydney Water, as an independent chairman of the UNCRG in March 2006.

But Mr Walker walked out of a meeting on Monday night after members questioned his impartiality in relation to a letter he sent to Mr Debus.
